Social Impact

Social Impact

The following is the breakdown of our blended value Impact:

Social Impact

The program was pioneered in Cambodia six years ago and is registered as L-CDI (Leadership Character Development Institute). It has provided 9,200 youth with leadership and life-skills training through the SOLS 24/7 two-year comprehensive boarding and training program.

It has been the largest provider of non-formal education in Cambodia.

Close to 100% of students/participants have secured employment in public, private and the social sector.

The SOLS 24/7 program is gender-sensitive, with 52% of graduates being female youth.

LCDI has also trained over 13,000 non-boarding students.

Financial Sustainability

The education program is implemented through 20 sustainable provincial centers that train 2,500 youths a year.

The centers are cost-effective through the use of available resources within the community for training infrastructure and through students taking responsibility for daily food and board requirements.

Besides youth development, SOLS 24/7 is an efficient service delivery channel for development initiatives. SOLS 24/7 has effectively distributed of medicines, bicycles, food, conducted public awareness campaigns and training programs and acted as a channel for surveys and data collection.

Scaling-up Efforts

The leadership of the Cambodian initiative has now been successfully transferred to 40 Cambodian LCDI graduates, who currently run the project, with guidance and support from the founders.

In early 2006, SOLS 24/7 will expand its development program to Timor Leste and subsequently to Laos and Vietnam.

SOLS 24/7 Trainers have conducted Leadership Courses for Youths in Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia & Singapore.

Over 50 Cambodian-SOLS 24/7 Volunteers have traveled to Thailand, Malaysia & East Timor on a study tour for 4 – 8 weeks.
