Critical need for education to reconstruct disintegrating East Timor.
2nd June 2006 - Current violence in East Timor has killed at least 20 people and displaced the lives of tens of thousands of East Timorese. outh gangs possessing home-made guns, knives and axes looted and burned down homes, shops and buildings. East Timorese are witnessing a gruesome nightmare of bloodshed and community violence.
SOLS 24/7 sees a more critical need to establish themselves in East Timor to assist in re-building the lives of dispossessed East Timorese. Once the unrest dissolves, the reconstruction of the country’s infrastructure requires immediate attention, and SOLS 24/7 is committed to providing educational opportunities to East Timorese, especially youths.
SOLS 24/7 is concerned that East Timorese youths are not limited by their disadvantaged position. Limitations faced by youths result in them being unemployed, engaging in gangsterism, being idle minded and hopeless in life.
SOLS 24/7 will bring education of soft and hard skills to East Timorese youths that can effectively assist them to reconstruct their lives, uplifting them from the vicious cycle of poverty that has recently worsened by the violence witnessed in East Timor.
Expansion works will continue once the situation in East Timor becomes more stable.
