Giving Refugee Youth a Second Chance at Life.
Education, Computers, Personal Development.
About 39, 462 Burmese refugees call Malaysia ‘home’ as of December, 2011. However, due to their refugee status many can’t access proper education and are forced to accept jobs with no securities and no rights.
UNHCR and SOLS 24/7 are offering Burmese refugees an opportunity to receive training that could change their lives:
A FREE and comprehensive training program, educating Burmese youth in academics and life skills.
Do you know Burmese organizations or know/ seen people who could benefit from this initiative? One small gesture of sharing could change their life!
We are seeking people like you to reach out to the ‘invisible’ people in our society. Make a pledge and share this information… if only with one person!

Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m currently working as volunteer teacher at Burma Refugees Organization Malaysia (BRO)’s Learning Center. I’m also the coordinator of CIS (Class for Intensive Studies). We are not just a school teaching basic education to Burmese refugees in Malaysia but we also have hostels to accommodate those who have no parents or to those whose parents are in different states. Some of their parents are struggling in their work that they don’t have enough security and financial support to their children. So, they leave their children here with us in the hostel that we provided for them. Currently we are facing shortage of funds and also shortage of Mathematics and Science Teachers. We will be very much appreciated if u look in to this matter and give us a support in every way that u can.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Aye Zaw Than
(BRO Learning Center)
Dear Aye Zaw Than,
Thank you for connecting with SOLS 24/7!
I will pass on your contact and information to our Project Manager and see how we can collaborate to make a difference for the BRO children!
You may also contact Project Manager Jacinta (contact number above), through sms or by calling.
Thank you again and best wishes for you and your organization!
Hello, thanks for your comment! We are doing our best to highlight the work of our wonderful team… volunteers, teachers and student trainees!
Will look forward to more comments from you in the future!
Best regards.
We would love to share with more mainstream media and we are working on a more solid media plan to reach a larger audience!
To reach the refugee community however, our trainers and teachers actually go into their community, meet their leaders and talk to the parents of the youth we are trying to help.
It takes different levels of effort to disseminate information about the work we do- but we are loving doing it!
