What is SOLS Tech?
SOLS Tech is a Social Enterprise with the goal of making technology accessible to everyone, especially for underserved communities in Malaysia.
We are the technology arm of SOLS 24/7 Malaysia, an award-winning humanitarian organisation, committed to serving, educating and empowering poor and underserved communities through education and empowerment.
Around 10 million Malaysians still don’t have access to computers or the internet, yet literacy and access to information can make a big difference for young people to find opportunities and better jobs.
In cooperation with companies and foundations, we provide free technology and IT education for underserved communities and organisations in Malaysia. We collect used computers and electronic devices from companies and individuals, refurbish and donate them to underprivileged communities and non-government organisations.
Since launching in 2012, with the help of our partner the Hong Leong Foundation, we have helped more than 200 organisations and donated more than 1,900 full computers sets to the underprivileged in Malaysia.
SOLS Tech is a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher with a passion for protecting the environment and reusing technology. As a licenced refurbisher, we guarantee that the donated computers are refurbished to the highest standard possible, data wiped and equipped with original software.
We are 1 of 7 Google for Education Partners in Asia. We are Google Certified Educators and Google Certified Trainers, which makes us the ideal candidate to train underprivileged communities in IT and provide them with fundamental skills to progress in life.
What we do
SOLS Tech brings technology to underprivileged communities in Malaysia through three programmes.
Transform it: Our donation programme is designed to reduce poverty and electronic waste. We collect used digital devices, refurbish and upgrade them and deliver them to deserving communities in peninsular Malaysia, all for free. We also responsibly recycle computers if they are not usable anymore and we sell the materials of value to fund our programmes.
Education: We provide free IT education and computer training for underprivileged communities in Malaysia. Access to technology and information is the key to a better future for underserved communities.
Tech Squad: In the near future, we will also offer IT maintenance at cost price for NGO’S and underserved communities and at low-cost services for companies. Stay tuned!
What happens to the donated computers?
There are two different possibilities depending on the reusability of the devices.

About Transform it
Transform it is our computer donation programme. Your old digital devices may be of no use to you anymore but they still can play a mission in the world and help underserved Malaysian communities.
By donating your old tech to Transform it, you are giving these devices a second life and help Malaysians gain access to information. In SOLS Tech, we will refurbish and give them to communities in need in Malaysia. For old electronic devices that can not be used anymore, we will responsibly recycle them ensuring we don’t cause any damage to the environment.
With Transform it, everybody wins: you win, the environment wins and, most importantly, the underprivileged communities in Malaysia win.
Advantages of Transform it
Transforming is more than recycling. It’s not just about turning old electronic devices into usable materials, it’s about creating opportunities and making the world a better place. Transforming is earth-friendly, extends the digital devices’ life and helps underprivileged communities.

Corporate Social Responsibility
Old computers and obsolete electronic devices pile up in dusty company storages in Malaysia. Electronic waste has become a huge problem for companies and society while many Malaysians don’t even have access to basic technology.
SOLS Tech gives companies the possibility to get rid of their non-working electronic devices for free and help underprivileged communities in Malaysia gain access to technology at the same time.
Collaborating with SOLS Tech companies in Malaysia can improve their CSR in different ways:
With donations from companies, we make technology accessible to Malaysian communities and improve their IT education. At the same time, you don’t have to spend time or money getting rid of the old devices.
How can you donate?
Contact us with information about your company and the devices that you would like to donate.
We collect, refurbish and donate your old devices to underserved communities in Malaysia.
A month after your donation, we send a report with a list of the communities that have been benefited by the donation of your company and information about the impact in the community.
Sponsor a set of computers
If you want to improve the CSR strategy of your company with our services but don’t have old devices, you can sponsor a set of computers for a specific underserved community in Malaysia. The cost of collecting, refurbishing and donating one computer is around RM250.
How can you sponsor?
Choose a deserving community or NGO in Malaysia from our list or nominate one to receive the computers (Start the process now!)
Obtain a report with images and information about the impact of the donated computers.
Visit the benefited communities to experience first hand the impact of the contribution.
In Malaysia, only a small part of consumer electronics are responsibly recycled, with the remainder ending up mostly in landfills with toxic chemicals contaminating our rivers and streams.
In SOLS Tech, we really care about keeping the Earth as green as possible and your company can help us in our mission. Our priority is to refurbish and reuse the donated computers. When this is not possible we disassemble them, separate the parts by materials and if they can’t be reused anymore, responsibly recycle them.
By using our services, you can ensure that your company disposes of the e-waste in an eco-friendly way. So far, SOLS Tech has responsibly recycled more than 17 tonnes of e-waste.
Hiring someone to take care of the old devices can be an expensive service for companies. In SOLS Tech we collect the old electronic devices for free from companies in Malaysia in these cases:
- Klang Valley Area +10 devices
- Outside Klang Valley Area +20 devices
We collect all kind of electronic devices, no matter if they are working or not. If they can not be reused we recycle the pieces in a responsible way.
We know that the responsible treatment of the data stored in the donated computers is the main concern for donors. For this reason, all donated computers go through an in-depth data destruction process ensuring that all data inside devices is destroyed and irretrievable.
As a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher, we guarantee that the donated computers are refurbished to the highest standard possible, data wiped and equipped with original software. To wipe the data we connect the computer to a server, using a high-security software, wiping out the devices 16 times in an accurate 8 hour-process.
To give prove of the total safety of the wiping process we provide the computer donors with the following documents:
- Collection contracts: we provide the donors with these documents to compensate them for consequences, liabilities or damages of any nature directly arising from the mismanagement of data storage. (see the contract)
- Data destruction reports: the donors are informed as soon as the donated devices have been wiped and refurbished.
