Loneliness In A Crowd

Loneliness In A Crowd
Loneliness isn’t just about how many people are around us. Loneliness is about how well connected and honest we are to those people. It’s also about how honest we are to ourselves. We’ve evolved to connect with the people around us. If we don’t do so, then we feel bad. We work better as a group. That’s what we’re doing when we talk to people. We’re making the group work better together. If we’re surrounded by people but we still feel lonely, then we aren’t as well connected as we should be. It could be that we can’t talk to our ‘friends’. It could be that we won’t acknowledge what we’re feeling. If we won’t acknowledge our feelings, can we share them with others? Cannot. The worst feelings can be talked through. We need to work at talking. We need to work to avoid loneliness. We need to work to realize how we feel then talk with our friends so we can get advice. This makes us feel well connected. This makes us happy because we can see how people care. When we talk with friends, we must be honest. We must be okay with saying exactly what we think so that we feel as if we really have connected. If we aren’t honest we’ll just feel like we’ve lied the whole time we talked. That makes us feel bad. We shouldn’t say everything on our mind all at once though. Instead we should have a conversation. We should slowly talk about what’s happening to us while talking about what’s happening to the person we’re talking to. That way we focus on them too. Get out for a chat. Talking is easy. Once we work at it for a while. The most important thing is for us to talk face-to-face. Not through a screen.
